Group
Therapy

I facilitate two types of group therapy for children and adolescents:

1. Social skills and interpersonal difficulties group
This group is designed for children and adolescents experiencing a range of social and interpersonal challenges. These may stem from factors such as social anxiety, overly controlling or inhibited behaviour, passivity, heightened social sensitivity, or attention difficulties (including inattention, impulsivity, or rigidity). The group offers a safe and supportive environment to explore new ways of relating to others, experiment with different social behaviours, and develop a more flexible and integrated “social self.”

2. Transition and adaptation group (new environments and life changes)
This group supports children and adolescents undergoing significant transitions, such as immigration, relocation, or changes in school or cultural environment. These experiences may involve adjustments in language, culture, living arrangements, and social networks, and are often accompanied by feelings of loss, loneliness, frustration, or alienation, as well as challenges in social integration. The group provides a containing space to process these experiences, reflect on changes in identity and self-perception, and gradually build a renewed sense of belonging.

In some cases, depending on individual needs, it may be recommended to begin with individual therapy prior to joining a group, in order to support the therapeutic process and readiness for group work.
